Roma will try to make another step towards securing the 2nd spot in the Italian Serie A, hosting Sassuaolo at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night. Roma currently have two points advantage of the third Napoli, so they need to keep their lead as much as possible. And winning against Sassuolo is mandatory for Luciano Spalletti’s side. Roma didn’t have a good time during the week, as they were eliminated from the Europa League by the French Olympique Lyonnais. The Italian side hoped to win the trophy or at least reach the final, but now they will have to concentrate on their participation the Serie A. Where they still have a job to do.

Sassuolo on the other hand are unable to perform their great results from the last season. Last year they managed to qualify for the Europa League, but right now Sassuolo are just waiting for the season to end, currently being 13th in the league.

Despite of losing the clash with Lyonnais in Europa League, Roma continue to show a terrific form in the Serie A. They won four of their last games in the league, losing only against Napoli. It was a bad defeat for Roma, because the Azzurri are their main rival for the 2nd spot. But luckily for Roma, they still have a slight advantage in front of Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Roma’s manager Luciano Spalletti can’t rely on the Italian international Alessandro Florenzi, who is out for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury. Emanuele Spinozzi on the other hand is still doubtful for the game.

Sassuolo are going to be without the services of Francesco Magnanelli, who is injured. Davide Biondini is doubtful for the clash.
